I’ve added an article on what is often thought of as the first pleasure pier, Southport. Situated on Merseyside this pier was almost demolished in 1990 but thanks to a single vote the pier was saved and redeveloped.

    We visited Southport this weekend and walked the pier. It’s a good walk out onto the sands and has it’s own modern tram! Very different yet nice to see the place buzzing.
