Congrats Michelle on winning one of the fabbie books. How great that it's bought back wonderful memories for you of growing up in the area. I have only lived in Blackpool since 2001 and visited for the first time in 1999, so i dont have any physical memories of the place before then. It dissapoints me that i never got to go on the open deck of Fleetwoods sadly gone pier as it was closed to the public forever when i got to the area, only the shabby front amusements, cafe and bar were open. I'd have loved to have seen the Moorish Pavillion and Floral Hall that are no more on St Annes Pier too. I loved reading about New Brighton pier too and sad that i never got to see that and think it is such a shame that they allowed it to go in the 70's. Morecambes two piers i would have loved to have gone to aswell, its not the same walking on the stone jetty. I also missed the theatre on the South Pier here in Blackpool. So much of the precious seaside heritage gone forever.

Kind Regards Carl

Hello,
I was lucky enough to win one of these copies and it looks a fab book. Living and growing up in Lancashire near all these wonderful Piers was great, but seeing the book brings back so many wonderful memories.

thank you very much for this prize.
Kindest regards
Michelle

I wonder if someone can help me find an old friend who used to work on the pier. His name is Colin Rouch and I used to write to him over a great number of years. I last knew that he was living in North Street in Walton and was still working on the pier. I know that he was 16 years older than me, so he will be turning 56 this year (2010). If anyone has any information about this wonderful man, I would be so grateful. Fingers crossed, Nicola O'Brian (Nicola Kenny back then).
