John Gerald Armstrong fell off the pier on 28th September 1906,and died from his injuries on 2nd October of that year..
His Death certificate states death was by falling from the pier whilst at play.
What is known about this incident?
Are there any reports on the circumstances that led thereto.?

It was on the news, recently, about the parlous state of the pier. How about doing a deal with cinema/bowling etc for them to put some money in and help get it profitable again? Having read the article, however, if the owner is recalcitrant it may not be possible to do much except, perhaps, buy him out?

The very first annual season ticket holders fishing competition was held in 1968
I was working on the pier at the time and Mr M Goss treared me and entered me in the competition.
Unknown to himand me at the time some 300 to 400 anglers took part,.
I was just a nouice angler, but surprise surprice i won my picture on the putmans web page shows me with fish etc.I won heaviest catch and heaviest fish, i won two rods and a reel plus £35 00 in cash which was two weeks wages in those days.
Hench as Mr M Goss treated me i treated him and brought back the cod next day filleted and ready to cook.
