Thanks to reporter Samantha Pope from Nailsea, Clevedon and Portishead Times Newspaper for highlighting a story that they are covering about plans for Clevedon Pier and The Royal Pier Hotel

Samantha’s article can be seen at the following link : Fly-by video: Designs for Clevedon Pier and the Royal Pier Hotel

It will be interesting to see how well these plans are developed to protect the piers Grade I listing.

What are peoples thoughts on these plans and how they will effect the outlook of the pier?

Clacton Pier Update

Jan-11-2011 By admin

Thanks to Billy for providing this update for us.

Just thought you might like an update in relation to the most recent phase of works being carried out at Clacton Pier. It has now been 21 months since the Clacton pier company bought Clacton pier from the previous owners the Harrison family.

In that time many changes and improvements have been made, we have seen the former cokney pride pub completely overhauled and redeveloped as the Boardwalk Bar, the addition of the ocean diner restaurant and burger express take away. There has been the introduction of various guest rides over the last two seasons and of course the addition of that famous landmark helter skelter, the feasibility of adding a major new ride attraction is being explored in time for this season, The amusement arcade has seen some massive investment and is now arguably the best amusement arcade offering in the town.

Probably the most exciting development taking place in time for the 2011 season is the new 10 pin bowling development which is at the time of writing in the process of being built. “The Lanes” is due to open in time for Easter 2011 and will be directly linked to all of the pier attractions especially the bar and amusement arcade. The owners are committed to making the pier a year round attraction and with the addition of this new facility hope to provide both the local community and tourists a fantastic new and much needed all weather entertainment alternative.

The Grand Pier – A Phoenix Rises

Feb-16-2010 By admin

The contractor responsible for the rebuilding of the Grand Pier in Weston Super Mare has completed a topping out ceremony on the reborn pier.

John Sisk where responsible for delivering a modern, state of the art structure which is due to open in the summer of 2010.

Featuring a stunning new pavilion the Grand Pier could be know as the Grander Pier!

Kerry Michael who is the owner of the Grand Pier commented – “Having overcome the initial shock and despair of losing the Pavilion, we went through difficult process of obtaining all the necessary permissions and now finally, we are in the exciting phase where we can see the building taking shape every day. The internal fit out begins next week and we can’t wait for the day it opens.”

Paul Wilson, MD at Sisk’s admitted that the environment and location posed a unique set of challenges for the builing firm as they battled with the sea and weather whilst working on the project.
