A speedboat hit the southcoast Pier around 9.30am on Saturday 30th May.   A female was thrown from the boat into the sea and needed to be rescued by the coastguard.

A passing boat attempted to assist the stricken woman but suffered steering failure and needed a tow back to port.

There was no significant damage to the pier structure.
